Create your application

Complete the necessary form(s) and attach the requested documents (see supporting documents). 

  • Moving from Belgium
    • to an EU country: Transfer permit application
    • to a non-EU country
      • Application for weapons export or transfer licence
      • Definitive export commitment application
  • Moving to Belgium
    • From an EU country: Prior agreement form for the transfer of firearms and ammunition
    • From a non-EU country: Import licence

Processing your application

We will assess your application. If it is approved, we will send you the signed documents by mail or email. 

Délais

The processing time is not fixed and may vary; it may take a few weeks in some cases.

Conditions
  • Have a holder's licence (model 4 or 9), a Belgian hunting permit or a marksman's licence. 

 

The document required depends on your situation: whether you are moving into or out of Belgium and whether or not the country of arrival or departure is in the European Union. Please refer to the section that relates to your situation.

Moving to an EU country - transfer permit

To move house with a weapon, spare parts, accessories or ammunition to a country in the European Union, you must obtain an transfer permit.

Prior to the move, you must carry out the necessary processes with the destination country to obtain their prior agreement

The transfer permit is valid for 12 months.

Moving to a non-EU country - export licence and definitive export commitment

To move house with a weapon, spare parts, accessories or ammunition to a country outside the European Union, you must obtain an export licence. You must also complete a definitive export commitment form.

Prior to the move, you must carry out the necessary procedures with the destination country to obtain an international import certificate or an import licence

The export licence is valid for 18 months.

Moving to Belgium from an EU country - prior agreement

To move house with a weapon, spare parts, accessories or ammunition from a country in the European Union to Belgium, you must request prior agreement.

The prior agreement is valid for 12 months. 

Moving to Belgium from a non-EU country - import licence

To move house with a weapon, spare parts, accessories or ammunition from a country outside the European Union to Belgium, you must obtain an import licence.

The import licence is valid for 18 months.
