Accessibility
The Walloon Public Services Office (SPW) strives to make its website as accessible as possible, especially for people with disabilities. We are constantly improving our users' experience by respecting the pertinent accessibility standards laid out in the Walloon Government decree of 2 May 2019 on the accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies aimed at transposing European Directive (EU) 2016/2102 on the accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies.
This accessibility statement applies to the economie.wallonie.be site.
This accessibility statement was written on 12 November 2024. The assessment of the website regarding its compliance with the requirements of European Directive (EU) 2016/2102 was carried out on the basis of FPS BOSA's Accessibility Check and a self-assessment by the SPW.
Level of compliance with the accessibility standard
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) bring together the applicable standards for accessibility requirements for people with disabilities. These rules can be implemented at three levels: level A, level AA and level AAA. The European standard recommends compliance with level AA.
The stipulated transposition of the European directive into Walloon legislation means that the public authority must make its websites and mobile applications accessible in accordance with the following principles:
- Information and user interface components must be presentable to users in ways they can perceive;
- user interface components and navigation must be operable;
- information and the operation of user interface must be understandable;
- content must be robust enough that it can be interpreted reliably by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies.
In accordance with these recommendations, the economie.wallonie.be site is partially accessible and meets the following requirements:
- a sufficient site width to allow for substantial zooming;
- identical content in mobile and computer versions;
- sufficiently contrasting colours throughout;
- semantic title tags are used appropriately;
- tables are used for tabular data and the data cells associated with their headers;
- colour is not used as the only way to convey information;
- page functions can be accessed via the keyboard;
- the pages have no time limit and the site does not contain moving content;
- the pages have an informative and descriptive page title;
- The site offers a site map;
- The function of each link can be determined from the link text alone;
- the language of the site is defined;
- A majority of PDF documents have been reworked to meet accessibility requirements such as redistribution of text, use of bulleted lists, sufficient text contrast, alternative text to images, and use of tags.
Limitations and alternatives
We work hard to ensure that the entire site is accessible to everyone. However, some elements of the site are not yet fully accessible, which explains why it is currently only partially accessible. Here is an overview of the problems to be solved:
- When information is conveyed by a non-decorative image or graphic, a textual alternative in web format is not yet shown; We are working on it;
- Video subtitling: several videos published on our site were produced before the European directive came into force, or by partners. Unfortunately, we cannot add subtitles. Recent videos are subtitled and we make every effort to ensure that older videos contain subtitles.
- PDF: PDF documents have been converted into HTML format wherever possible. However, some PDF forms must retain this format so they can be downloaded and signed by our users. They have nevertheless been reworked to make them more accessible. Our administration is committed to the gradual dematerialisation of its forms.
- Some of the coloured backgrounds on our website lack contrast. However, we are committed to correcting this problem with the next graphic revision of our site.
